A heterocyclic nitrogen compound used for its dry, leathery-tobacco character. Reads as leather, dry wood, and smoke simultaneously: distinctive and difficult to replicate.

6-Isobutylquinoline. A nitrogen-heterocyclic aromatic compound belonging to the quinoline class. Exhibits a characteristic dry, leathery, woody-tobacco odor profile derived from the quinoline ring system. Used as a key leather-type material in perfumery, particularly in chypre, fougère, and oriental compositions. Imparts dark, smoky, slightly quinoline-earthy facets that read simultaneously as leather, dry wood, and tobacco. Its character is difficult to replicate by any other material and small quantities substantially alter the olfactory character of a composition.
